Savory and tangy ketchup meals

Chinese sweet & Sour chicken

Things you need:

  1. Thigh piece of chicken (almost 2 pounds)1 cup of pineapple chunks (canned)
  2. ¼ cup of pineapple juice
  3. ½ teaspoons of black pepper (ground)
  4. ¾ teaspoons of kosher salt
  5. 5-6 tablespoons of cornstarch
  6. 3-4 tablespoons of vegetable oil
  7. ½ cup of apple cider vinegar 
  8. 2-3 tablespoons of ketchup
  9. ¼ cup of honey
  10. 2 teaspoons of sugar
  11. 2 tablespoons of soy sauce
  12. 1 scallion nicely sliced
  13. ½ onion medium-sized finely sliced
  14. 1 garlic clove precisely grated
  15. 1 green chili, deseeded
  16. Boiled white rice

Note down the method:

  1. Add cornstarch, 1 ½ teaspoon of salt, and pepper in a wider bowl and beat them well.
  2. Cut chicken into chunks
  3. Add the chicken chunks to the cornstarch blend
  4. Toss it well 
  5. Place a nonstick skillet on the stove and heat 2 tablespoons of oil on a high flame.
  6. Place one portion of chicken and cook it up.
  7. When the chicken changes its color, turn off the heat
  8. Take another bowl and add honey, ketchup, sugar, ¼ teaspoons of salt, garlic, pineapple juice, soy sauce, and vinegar; stir them well.
  9. Dish out the cooked chicken on a plate
  10. Now repeat the same with the remaining chicken by adding oil.
  11. After 2-3 minutes, add pepper and onion.
  12. Keep stirring unless the veggies turn tender and the chicken is cooked properly.
  13. Drizzle sauce, add pineapple chunks, and add the first portion of the chicken.  
  14. Toss them well and cook them until the sauce turns into a thick gravy
  15. Garnish the dish with chopped scallion
  16. Enjoy it with boiled rice. 

Maple baked beans

Things you need:

  1. 1 pound of northern beans
  2. 2 tablespoons of brown sugar
  3. 2 teaspoons of salt or according to your taste
  4. 2 tablespoons of molasses
  5. 2 tablespoons of brown mustard (spicy)
  6. ¼ teaspoon of black pepper (ground)
  7. ¼ cup of ketchup
  8. ½ cup of maple syrup
  9. 2 bacon strips (a bit chunkier)

Method:

  1. Boil beans in the broader pan and simmer until they turn softer
  2. Warm up your oven to 300°F.
  3. Amass all the ingredients, excluding the bacon, and mix in the beans 
  4. In a Dutch oven, put one bacon and drizzle the bean fusion on it
  5. Now place the other strip of bacon
  6. Add sufficient water, so it covers the overall 
  7. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and put a lid on it. 
  8. Let it sit in the oven for 5 hours of baking
  9. Pour water if the beans dry out.

A delectable dish of beans is ready to munch!

Chinese Chicken Manchurian with ketchup

Things you need: 

  1. Chicken breast piece 
  2. Egg (for coating)
  3. Soy sauce 
  4. Cornflour slurry
  5. Red chilies
  6. Garlic paste & chopped garlic
  7. Onions, scallion, and bell peppers
  8. Chili powder
  9. Chili garlic sauce
  10. Tomato ketchup 
  11. Chicken cubes 
  12. oil

Method:

  1. Turn chicken into tiny bites
  2. Place all the ingredients in a pot for marinating chicken, excluding oil
  3. Let the chicken rest for half an hour
  4. Grab a nonstick pan and heat 2 tablespoons of oil
  5. Fry a half portion of marinated chicken on a high flame
  6. Turn off the heat when the chicken changes its colors and gets tender
  7. Dish out a chicken 
  8. Repeat the process and stir fry the second half marinated chicken in oil
  9. Dish it out
  10. For Manchurian gravy, heat the oil in a pot
  11. Put garlic and red chili (dried red button)
  12. Add chili garlic sauce, chicken cubes, soy sauce, and ketchup
  13. Pour some water and mix them well
  14. For thickening the gravy, prepare the cornflour slurry by adding water to the cornflour
  15. Place the bowl of gravy on the stove and pour ¼ cup of water
  16. Heat it for 15-20 minutes, and bring it to boil
  17. Drizzle 2 tablespoons of oil into this concoction
  18. Put in the remaining Manchurian gravy 

Ready to eat!
