What is the difference between palaak paneer and saag paneer?
Saag paneer and palaak paneer are entirely different meals. Though both are made with green leaves, they have different tastes. Their recipes are also varied.

Ingredients you need for Palaak puree
- Fresh palaak 500 grams
- Garlic cloves 1-2
- Green chilies 2 finely chopped
- One roughly chopped ginger
Ingredients you need for palaak curry:
- Medium-sized tomato and onion nicely chopped
- Spinach 200 grams
- 5 garlic nicely chopped
- 1 teaspoon of red chili powder
- ½ teaspoon of garam masala powder
- ½ teaspoon of cumin seeds
- 1 bay leaf
- ¼ teaspoon of turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon of Fenugreek leaves
- Unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoon of milk
- Salt as per your taste
- Butter for topping
Directions:
Making the palaak puree:
- Rinse and wash the palaak properly
- In a pan, fill the water and bring it to a boil; add some salt
- Turn off the heat, and in hot water, add palaak leaves
- Cover the pot and let the palaak steep for a while
- Drain thoroughly. Take out palaak and place them in ice-cold water
- After some time, drain and prepare the palaak puree in a blender; also mix garlic, chilies, and ginger
- The smooth puree is ready.
Making the palaak curry:
- Heat the oil in a pan
- Stir fry the cumin and then add chopped onions and bay leaf
- Keep frying until onions get tender
- Time to add chopped garlic and tomato, stir fry until tomato gets softer
- Add red chili powder and turmeric powder and pan fry for a while.
- Now place the smooth palaak puree and add little water if required.
- Bring to boil for 7 minutes till the palaak is all cooked
- Shower some garam masala and a bit of salt
- Add paneer and milk; whip and simmer for 20-25 seconds
- Some people like adding crushed kasuri methi leaves; you can do so if you wish! The restaurant-style palaak paneer is ready to serve with soft, hot, and fluffy naans!
